A Park Above is replicated from Lakeland, Florida's Common Ground Park. When I was in Lakeland, Feb of 2009, I drove past this amazing park filled with people of all ages...a party filled with fun! I called the Parks & Recreaction Director Bill Tinsley and we set up an appointment. I HAD to find out more about this park! It is a wonderful community park that was built for children of all ages and all abilities. Mr. Tinsley has been wonderful in his support of this park being built in the Rio Rancho, NM area.
I set up an appointment with Mayor Swisstack & Jay Hart the Parks & Recreation Director in Rio Rancho, NM. I gave them a presentation of this truely incredible park and they felt it would be a wonderful assect to the community of Rio Rancho as well as to the surrounding communities and also the State of New Mexico! So, we set up to make this venture happen. Mr. Jay Hart and I, Jennie Schulte Baca, have been presenting this park event to the community for awareness and support. We are currently working on our non-profit license so there is no funding at this time...but soon...everyone can play a major part in this park of destination!
This park has a butterfly built into the framework of the plans.....as there are millions of butterflies, there are millions of children and each has to take flight on a personal journey of life...filling a book of happy memories.
